Inquiry
Stuff in Motion - The Law of Force:
In our continuing investigation into Newton's Laws of Motion, we will explore the relationship between mass and the force (F=MxA). We will build pulleys to measure the force required to lift small objects. We will also use scoots in the gym to illustrate how heavier objects require more force to move.
Math
Multiplication and Telling Time:
The Magical Minds will build and use analog clocks as we explore patterns when multiplying by fives. We will learn a fun multiplication song as well as write multiplication math puzzles.
Reading
Teaching Reading Tools:
The second graders will be teaching the Junior Kindergarteners how to use a couple of their reading tools. This week we focus on sharing two of the most helpful tools, tracking words with a finger and blending letters together to find words. Erin will also introduce the art of Book Talks during Library, during which she will summarize and recommend a book she thinks others would enjoy.
Writing
This week the Magical Minds begin new stories, and we focus on the initial phases of the writing process, brainstorming and planning.
