Inquiry
Stuff in Motion - The Law of Action and Reaction: In our continuing investigation into Newton's Laws of Motion, we will explore how each action has an equal and opposite reaction. We will reflect on our water wheels as evidence of this law, as well as determine the best model for our final project.
Math
Multiplication and Doubles: This week we write multiplication word problems as well as investigate how multiplying by fours is doubling doubles, for example 4 x 3 is 3x2x2 (6x2).
Reading
Asking Questions: Good readers wonder about their books before they even begin reading. We will practice writing questions before, during and after we read, engaging our minds to increase comprehension and enjoyment. We also add another Reading Tool to our toolkit, “Read it Again.” Have you ever read an entire page, only to realize that you weren’t really paying attention and you have no idea of what just happened? Good readers reread passages, sentences and words when they don’t understand.
Writing
Descriptive Writing: Last week in Writer’s Workshop we worked on sketching instead of drawing. This week, we will focus on filling our stories with imaginative, descriptive details!
Current Events Schedule (in alphabetical order)
Check out our collection of kid-friendly news resources.

Announcements
Community Service and Holiday Donations: We will be collecting items for donation upstairs by the door to the garden. Please bring in lightly used toys, books and puzzles, etc. but no stuffed animals please. This part is optional and anonymous; this is not meant to be a forced surrender of valued items. The discussion and process is the most important piece; even finding one item is great. Due to potential volume, limit will be one bag or box to start.
Sharing (Tuesdays): Each week one child will share a Passion Project. Passion Projects are MADE BY Magical Minds and are about something they care about, something that is important to them. This week Enzio will share at our class meeting
