Rube Goldberg Machines:
We continue to investigate and build Rube Goldberg Machines, focusing on incorporating pulleys and wheel and axle into our designs. The Magical Minds are exploring different materials and combining them in new ways in order to meet the expectations of this year’s challenge. This week we begin to review concepts and skills we have learned throughout second grade. Through math games, the Magical Minds will use what they know to solve new problems. We will also begin to discuss how to differentiate games to make them more or less challenging.
This Friday, June 1st, second grade will host it’s final Author’s Chair of the year. This week the Magical Minds are busy putting the final touches on their writing pieces, revising and editing their text and illustrations.
The Magical Minds have begun to use a computer programming software called Scratch, building scenes and stories with simple commands. This week we continue to explore computer programming, adding increasingly more complex commands in order to tell stories.
